The Winnipeg Jets Defeats Philadelphia Flyers

The Winnipeg Jets won their second game back-to-back against the Philadelphia Flyers. They defeated their opposing rivals from 7 to 3 on December 15th, 2019. This matchup saw some of the best Canadian Hockey in 2019, with Mark Scheifele scoring one goal and two assists. The offence of Kyle Connor, Logan Shaw, and Nikolaj Ehlers was the driving force behind the continuous scoring points. Additional scoring players included James Van Riemsdyk, Shayne Gostisbehere, and Matt Niskanen.

Connor Hellebuyck, the Goalie for the Winnipeg Jets, was the star of the show. He made twenty-nine saves, allowing for the Jets to push forward throughout the third period, that was until he needed to hit the benches. Some of the most significant moments from this matchup included a five-minute penalty for the interference of game misconduct, which was caused by Joel Farabee crashed into Matthieu Perreault. This body-check was made long after Matthieu has thrown away the puck. Because of this incident, the Winnipeg Jet’s scored two additional goals. The final scoring goal for the December 15th matchup was made by Mark Wheeler, who increased his scoring streak to six consecutive matches.

The Jets proved to have some influential moments. Josh Shaw saw himself make his first goal of the season, with Laine and Riemsdyk both making back-to-back goals towards the end of the second period. It would be Niskanen who scored the final power-play goal for the team, which enabled them to rebound from their significant loss against the Detroit Red Wings on the 12th. The Winnipeg Jets have played three matches per week this entire season. Their next two games include a matchup against Hurricanes and Blackhawks, with sports analysts believing that the Jets will defeat the Hurricanes. However, the Chicago Blackhawks have performed exceptionally this year, leading fans to think there’s a loss coming on Thursday, December 19th.
